Theme - "1890 Extension System: Visible, Accountable and Viable"

The Association of Extension Administrators (AEA) Systemwide Conference will be held in Memphis, Tennessee on June 24-28, 2012. The conference will begin with a reception at 6:00 p.m. on June 24, and concludes at 10:00 a.m. on June 28th.

The principal goals of the conference are:

  1. To provide participants with an enhanced understanding of the requirements to develop and deliver quality and impactful programs that are measurable and relevant.
  2. To provide participants with the knowledge and skills to derive practical and innovative solutions that address emerging issues based on stakeholders’ needs.

Extension Administrators are responsible for registering all 1890 Extension professionals from their respective university. If the participants that you are registering are included in the AEA conference assessment, no registration fee is required, but you should e-mail a copy of the registration form to Dr. Lawrence Carter at lawrence.carter@famu.edu. Registration refunds will be available prior to May 1, but there will be a $50.00 processing fee. The registration deadline is May 1st and there will be no on onsite registration.

Exhibits:

We are requesting that each 1890 institution bring and display at least one integrated exhibit to the conference. The exhibits should depict joint Extension, research, and teaching activities. There will be no cost for the first1890 institution basic 10 by 10 feet exhibit space, but each additional space will cost $1,500.00 and it will include the registration fee for one person. There will also be a fee for special requirements such as electrical outlets and internet connections. Although there is no fee for the first 1890 exhibit, the exhibit form (click on Forms/Downloads below) should be completed and submitted to Mr. James Hill at Fort Valley State University via e-mail at hillj@fvsu.edu by April 2, 2012. However, all exhibit fees should be submitted to Dr. Carter by the same date.

The conference will provide an opportunity for Extension participants to present posters in the following five (5) areas: Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumers Sciences, 4-H and Youth Development, and Community Resource Development, and Integrated Programs. The guidelines regarding posters may be found under the Forms/Downloads tab below. The abstracts are due to Dr. Dalton McAfee at dmcafee@alcorn.edu by April 2, 2012.

Opening Reception:

At the opening reception, there will be an institutional roll call. During the roll call, each university will introduce their participants and present two state gifts. Each gift should be valued at $75.00 or more. The attire for the reception is something that would represent your university.

Regular (February 2 – April 2): $500.00
Late (after April 2): $550.00

Refunds for registration are available prior to May 1 with a $50 processing fee. The registration deadline is May 1, and there will be no onsite registration.
